Registered office
Every Croatian company needs a registered office address in Croatia. It is entered in the court register and used for official mail from the court, the Tax Administration and other authorities.
- Your own or rented premises. You need the owner's consent or a lease agreement.
- An address service. Possible, but check that official mail is actually received and forwarded to you promptly. Missed letters from authorities have real consequences.
Some activities, such as hospitality, trade or manufacturing, have separate premises requirements that the registered office alone does not meet.
Bank account
The share capital is first paid into a temporary account. After registration, the company opens its business account.
Banks must identify their clients and the company's beneficial owners, and each bank decides independently whether to open an account. Expect questions about:
- who owns and controls the company;
- where the money comes from;
- what the company will do and with whom it will trade.
Many banks ask for an in-person visit, especially from non-EU founders. Plan for it early. No formation provider can guarantee that a bank will open an account.
